INVITATION FOR COLLABORATION

Ungana-Afrika, with the support of OSISA, is implementing a series of free workshops in the SADC region that help networks of development organisations to understand and implement new models of technology support and capacity-building. Our next workshop will be in Namibia and we are looking for pro-active local organisations to collaborate with.

Our goal is to help collaborative groups or individual development organisations to initiate ICT support programs through a process known as incubation. To date, Ungana-Afrika has hosted workshops in six different countries (South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Malawi) and in three of these countries new technology support projects have been started benefiting from the support of our incubation program.

Ungana-Afrika is a South Africa based non-profit organisation addressing the reality of today's “technology capacity crisis” by building innovative ICT programs and tools for the development community, and its service providers. We invite interested organisations and networks, who meet the following requirements, to indicate interest by contacting us by the 7th of September 2007.

The organisation should:

• have good knowledge of the development sector within the country of operation 
• have basic understanding of the Information and Communication Technology needs of the sector the organisation operates within (for example health, media, etc..)
• have capacity building experience 
• be willing to work with Ungana-Afrika to organise an incubation workshop and to collaborate in future projects
• be interested in eRiding (for more information see www.eriders.net)

Organisations interested in launching their own capacity-building programs/structures would be ideal candidates for such a partnership, as they would have a very direct collaboration with Ungana-Afrika and the concepts from the workshop.

The partner organisation will assist Ungana-Afrika to organise the incubation of ICT capacity building workshop by:

• helping Ungana-Afrika with distribution of marketing materials and invitations of the incubation workshop 
• helping with logistical arrangements of the incubation workshop which includes organising workshop venue, necessary materials and catering during the workshop
• helping with registration of workshop participants 
• helping with organising accommodation of facilitators and participants wherever necessary
• helping with facilitation and coordination of the workshop wherever possible
