The USA PATRIOT Act
has placed a number of compliance requirements on US-based donor
organisations, with severe consequences if it is found that their funds
have been used to support terrorist activity. This is further
complicated when partner organisations around the world are re-granting
their funds with only limited involvement from the donor. CompuMentor
was tasked with providing CS Mott's re-granting partners with the tools
they need to comply with the legal requirements of the act. For two
years, Ungana-Afrika has been contracted by CompuMentor as a trusted
partner to provide capacity-building services to re-granting groups in
South Africa, notably Social Change Assistance Trust in
Cape Town and the Rhodes
Legal Aid Clinic in Grahamstown.
