Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA)
Ungana-Afrika is providing strategic
technology planning
services to OSISA's grantees in seven countries (one grantee per
country) in the Southern Africa region. The objectives of this effort
is to create greater technology awareness within non-profit
organisations and help them source new opportunities through the use
and implementation of information and communication technologies
(ICTs). The service will be rolled out in a period of three years
starting with Malawi and Namibia, with other countries to be identified
at a later stage.
Detailed Project Info
Technology planning is the important initial
step for an
organisation to appropriately integrate into it's operations. A
strategic technology plan can help an organisation effectively use ICT
tools, make informed choices and appropriately spend on technology.
The process will be such that Ungana-Afrika
visit an
organisation for a period of five days meet with management, staff and
volunteers. While on the ground Ungana-Afrika together with the
organisation identifying how technology is currently used (methodology,
skills, infrastructure, bottlenecks, etc..), look at how ICT
opportunities can be mobilized to support an organisation's strategic
plan and mission. The output of these efforts will then be detailed in
a Strategic Technology Plan document that will outline the current use
of technology, recommendations/justifications for future
implementations, and budget considerations. A technology team, which is
identified at the start of the process, takes ownership of the plan and
ensure its implementation.
