eRiding Project
After Ungana-Afrika's Incubation workshop,
organised in mid
2005, Ungana-Afrika was involved with the project planning and fund
raising efforts before the launch the Zambia eRiding Project, which is
hosted by NGOCC (Non-Governmental Organisations' Coordinating Council)
and funded by Open Society Initiative of Southern Africa (OSISA). The
objectives of this collaborative ICT-support project are to provide
eRiding services and encourage non-profit organisations in Zambia adopt
Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS). The Zambian eRiders were
trained by Ungana-Afrika and were provided with close mentorship
support during the project initiation phase.
As a part of a larger Incubation program
activies,
Ungana-Afrika is planning to sub-grant the Zambia eRiding Project to
provide ICT support to Hivos grantees in Zambia, starting in 2007. At
this stage Ungana-Afrika is in the process of developing the processes
and policies that will guide the sub-granting of the project.
