In late 2005, Ungana-Afrika was contracted
to assist with a major redesign of the global eRider web portal - eRiders.net.
The eRiders.net portal is a central source for technology support
tools, resources, news, stories, and general eRider community
networking. The shared resources and information there assist hundreds
of individuals and providers involved in civil society technology
support and capacity-building. This project included assistance with
the design and navigation of the new site, and above all, contribution
of new shared resources from Ungana-Afrika's experience (specifically
related to eRider project startup/incubation and training).

As Ungana-Afrika is a hub for eRiding
services, and a strong
catalyst in the startup of new eRider projects in Africa, we have
developed a number of resources that are of great interest to the
support community, and eRiders.net
is the ideal hub to share them. Though Ungana-Afrika was involved in
numerous areas of the collaborative redesign of this site, some key
contributions included:
- Creation of online eRider Toolkit
structure in partnership with Teresa Crawford. This toolkit is the
first online holistic guide to help organizations and individuals
develop and sustain eRider projects.
- The development of a complete set of
training materials for eRider trainers (access them here),
a definitive source of eRider capacity-building resources. These
materials are a consolidation of training modules developed directly by
Ungana-Afrika or collected from the general community.
- Posting of "Incubation of ICT Capacity
Building Programs" materials, the first of their kind in any public
space (access them here).
These resources are geared towards those that assist the incubation
process (as consultants), or help educate new networks and
organisations about the concept of eRiding.

eRiders.net
