Primary/Core Supporters
Because of our
outstanding quality
of work, all of our core supporters have provided additional grants
(beyond the initial relationship), and have committed to long-standing
support.

Soros Foundations
The Open Society Institute (OSI), a
private
operating and grant making foundation, aims to shape public policy to
promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal, and
social reform. Soros foundations are autonomous institutions
established in particular countries or regions to initiate and support
open society activities.
Several Soros Foundations have
supported
core Ungana-Afrika operations or specific projects, and the Open
Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) has provided core
support from the start of Ungana-Afrika. OSISA's current operational
support lasts until the end of 2009.

Hivos
Hivos
is a Dutch non-governmental organisation inspired by humanist values.
Hivos seeks to contribute to a free, fair and sustainable world in
which citizens have equal access to the resources and opportunities for
their development.
Hivos started supporting Ungana-Afrika
in
2005 and through a current co-funding approach with OSISA, Hivos has
extended it's support until the end of 2009.

The
Finnish Government
Finland has a wide bilateral
development
co-operation program with South Africa. SMME-development, education-
and environmental sectors have been defined as core areas for the
bilateral co-operation. NGO's promoting democracy and human rights are
supported by the embassy administered Local Co-operation Fund.
Ungana-Afrika has received financial
support
from the co-operation fund in South Africa for a number of ICT capacity
building and consulting projects since early 2004. In addition,
Ungana-Afrika has been working closely with the embassy of Finland in
Mozambique since 2005, where a joint project with a local partner has
been supported by the local co-operation fund.
